"Eclectic but consistently entertaining and sizzling with intensity as only great
acoustic music can deliver, with an urgency and intimacy that I love."

- Michelle Shocked, Performing Singer-Songwriter

Wild Carrot
Pam Temple and Spencer Funk are Wild Carrot. This Cincinnati-based, award-winning group has what it takes to please all types of folk music fans. Rooted in traditional American music, their repertoire branches in diverse directions: from original tunes to swing, blues and traditional songs, using guitar, mandolin, dulcimer, concertina and vocals. In quartet with their Roots Band (Brenda Wolfersberger and Brandt Smith), they expand to four vocals and add bass, banjo and Dobro.

Wild Carrot's entertaining and moving performances have something for everyone. Their performances have often been described as "honest, soothing, uplifting and fun all at the same time", moving an audience from laughter to tears and back again in a way that makes the listener feel like they're in a conversation with old friends. All of this adds up to a performance that's been described as "seamless", "life-sized complex, subtle and powerful" and "a joy."

Happy New Year!

We hope 2012 finds you healthy and happy and that our music will add a little more of all of that to your year!  We have so many exciting thing coming up for you this year!  Here are some highlights:

Shows and Tours!

Thanks to the FABulous audience that joined us at the Fitton Center for the Creative Arts earlier this month.  We had a blast and were so glad to be returning to this sweet theatre with the Roots Band!

Pam and Spencer are currently in Mexico (!) for a visit and a show at Hennessey's Irish Pub (Maybe we'll play at a Mexican Place when we go to the UK in 2013!).
Look for more photos in the February newsletter - join below!

Pam and Spencer at Uxmal, Yucatan, Mexico - an ancient Myan site.  Imagine 25,000 people living and working here on 37.5 square kilometers of incredible stone structures between 600 and 1000AD.  Fantastic!

Then, Wild Carrot & the Roots Band head to Florida in March!  Check out all of our tour dates and local shows on our calendar!

New Video!

Check out this new video of our song "Blue Bottle Tree".  Then go to our YouTube Channel for more lovely new video ... and more on the way, so check back! (Thanks to Mind Ignition in Cincinnati)

In the Studio!

Yes, we've begun again, recording some new tunes.  We'll try to get them out to you on the web site as we can.  Stay Tuned!

New Press!

We recorded "What Have You Done to Lift Somebody Up" by Paul Thorn on our last CD (buy it HERE).  This is what Mr. Thorn had to say about it:

"My ears were so pleased when I heard Wild Carrot's version of "What Have You Done To Life Somebody Up." They are a tight band with a great sound and a lot of soul. Thank you for recording my song." -Paul Thorn

That's all the news that's fit to print for now.  Keep up with us online by bookmarking this page, joining our mailing list in the field below and "Like" us on Facebook!

rooted in tradition and know you'll be coming back again and again."

Two-Time Cultural Ambassadors with the US State Department

We are honored to have been chosen twice to tour Chile as "Folk Music Ambassadors". It is a beautiful country and we were lucky to see more of it than most Chileans do as we toured up and down the coast playing festivals, concerts and master classes. Here are a few shots. Our hearts go out to our hosts and friends rebuilding after 2010's devastating earthquake.

"Zanahoria Silvestre" on the stage!

In front of the postcard-perfect volcano in Villa Rica, Chile during our tour.

Spencer on a typical "street" in Valparaiso, Chile, our favorite place in Chile.  It's an artists' town, built on seven steep hills above a bay.  When we win the lottery, we're gonna move here.
